What can i do to provide my Aquarium with more aeration?
I have two goldfish in a 10 gallon tank with about 5 live plants in there. My goldfish are on the top of the water gulping for air for the last week. Whats wrong with them? What can i do i have a filter, crystal clear water, and an air stone inside the aquarium.
The aquarium has an air pump inside so idk why the goldfish go to the surface for oxygen?

A 10g tank isn’t large enough for even one fancy goldfish. These are large fish that can grow to about 6-8" and therefore require tanks of at least 20g. Goldfish are also very messy fish, so they require at least double the filtration. For instance, if you keep two fancy goldfish in a 40g tank, you must have at least a 80g filter or else too much ammonia will build up too quickly.
However, if you have common pond goldfish, these fish grow to be larger than a foot long and therefore aren’t suitable for home aquariums.
Did you cycle your tank before adding the fish? It might not be that your tank needs to be properly aerated, your fish might be trying to find an alternative way to live, other than staying in your polluted tank – if this is the case. There might be too much ammonia for their liking, and there probably is seeing as you have a tiny tank for such messy fish.
Research should be done before adding fish, not after!

Get an air pump. They aerate very well. A smallish one will do well in your aquarium.
Good luck, jenny
Goldfish produce more waste than normal fish because of their stomachs, have you checked your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph levels? They should be fine unless they are doing that constantly, those family of fish will go to the top for air from time to time. Also, do not overfeed them and keep up on water changes.
Did you make sure that the plants weren’t harmful to the fish?
Like what the other people commented, goldfish produce a lot of waste.
If you can’t get a bigger tank, make sure you do the following:
Do partial water changes frequently
Test and correct the amount of Ammonia/Nitrates/Nitrites in the water
Make sure you have an air pump, and a proper working filter
Also don’t over feed because the left over food makes the water worse for the fish.
Hope this will help! Good Luck!!
